My Visit to Gb3
On August 20, 2016 I took a visit to Gb3 gym in Fresno to do my job shadow for my senior project. I job shadowed and interviewed Aron Sing, a personal trainer and physique competitor. I chose to go to Gb3 for my job shadow since I am passionate about fitness and hope to one day train others like Aron does. I got to see his training routines and met his amazing clients. This experience was truly motivating as well as educational.
When I arrived to the gym I was excited to learn what it felt like to be a personal trainer. I had trained with Aron before and job shadowing him was a great experience since he was a good friend of mine that I admired and respected. When I walked into the gym, Aron was expecting me at the front desk. We talked about baseball and the fitness industry. We had a lot in common which is another reason why I choose him to job shadow. His first class arrived at 7am. I met all his clients and I was given the privilege of training them along with Aron.
After the first training session was over he gave me a tour around the gym and explained to me the importance of fitness and why it's becoming bigger and bigger globally. He introduced me to other trainers from that gym and even gave me a free protein shake. His second class started at 9am and he decided to split the class into two halves, one that would go with me and one that would go with him. We made them go through a cardio circuit that lasted an hour and 30 minutes. After this class ended we headed over to Denny's and had some breakfast. It was delicious! After Denny's we headed back to the gym office and there I asked him my interview questions. I received such inspiring responses that I wanted to get off my butt and go workout. Shortly after that he had an independant training session with a elderly woman Named Dyan. She had a lot of stories to share along with life experiences that surprised me. She told me that this fitness lifestyle has changed her life and that I should really continue on this path.
Later on Aron showed me how he would reach out to his clients in other states. He would email them specific meal plans and workouts that they should do at their local gym. He would set specific goals for them such as their macros and weight per set. He emailed a total of 47 clients in those 3 hours. He even set specific macros for myself and explained to me certain workouts that were specific for baseball.
I really liked the gym and the support that he gave to each of his clients. I liked that he allowed me to train some of his clients which gave me a bigger idea on what a day of work looked like in that field. I felt helpful and excited to guide a class through a specific workout.
I had a big passion for fitness and that passion grew bigger after seeing how one could change people's life for the better in this lifestyle. I am still very interested in this job because I love helping people and want to change lives for the better just how fitness changed mine. I am looking forward to graduating college and training people at the same time.
